AKRON—Employees from Harwick Standard Distribution Corp. have purchased gifts for the 33 students at the Education Alternatives school in Akron.
EA has various schools in Northeast Ohio, and one of the teachers at the Akron site is Jennifer Carmichael, who formerly worked for Harwick in Accounts Payable, according to the distributor of a wide variety of chemicals, additives and elastomers. She started working toward a degree in education, benefiting from Harwick's education assistance program.
"She then left Harwick to devote to her studies full time and now she is making the world a better place," Harwick President and CEO Ernie Pouttu said in an email to employees.
Carmichael and another representative from the school picked up the gifts on Dec. 17 to distribute to the children before Christmas.
