AKRON—The employees of Harwick Standard Distribution Corp. are in the giving spirit this season.
Along with employees from Western Reserve, Harwick workers supported Education Alternatives' Giving Tree, which made gifts to students a reality this Christmas.
Education Alternatives is a non-profit special education school that has eight facilities around Northeast Ohio.
"We have been doing this giving tree for a number of years," said Harwick President Ernie Pouttu. "The gratefulness of the students and the joy of particularly the younger ones is heartwarming."
Education Alternatives offers school-day programs for students with social-emotional, behavioral and autism spectrum issues, providing individualized education.
Each EA program is "staffed by licensed teachers and mental health support staff."
Harwick Standard, headquartered in Akron, has serviced the rubber, thermoplastics and other polymer-related industries for 90 years.
