RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.—Giti Tire USA Ltd. has renewed its partnership with Formula Drift and will provide GT Radial-brand tires to teams in the PRO Championship through the 2028.
In addition, for the next two years GT Radial will remain the official tire of the PROSPEC series, a secondary national race where drivers compete to move up to the main series.
GT Radial came up just short in defending its 2023 Tire Cup in this year's Formula Drift PRO Championship but experienced many highlights in the 2024 season.
This past season, GT Radial finished second among six competing tire brands.
Hiroya Minowa, 14, was named the 2024 FD Rookie of the Year race on GT Radial tires. Giti said she made history in St. Louis as she became the youngest driver in Formula Drift history to place.
Using GT Radial tires, driver Amanda Sorensen became the first female to have a podium finish, placing second at the Formula Drift PROSPEC Championship Round 2.
"Everyone on the GT Radial team, including our employees at the Richburg (S.C.) plant who produce the Champiro SX2 RS competition tire, can be proud of our effort and the many successes achieved throughout the season, GT Radial Motorsports Manager Mike Meeiem said. "We look forward to competing again in 2025."
The GT Radial brand has been sold in the U.S. for more than 25 years.
