McCloskey said that the new partnership is "built on a proven foundation of trust and reliability." With the partnership's rich history already in place, the expansion revolved around further entrenching Greene Tweed's thermoplastics and other material solutions in McLaren's racing plans.
"As a supplier over the past several racing seasons, Greene Tweed has provided a range of advanced material solutions to McLaren Racing as an Official Partner of the McLaren Formula 1 Team and the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team," McCloskey said. "This expanded partnership is a natural progression, driven by our shared commitment to innovation and engineering excellence."
In a sport where results can be decided by tenths—sometimes hundredths—of a second, the partnership comes at a "critical moment," McCloskey said. As the most recent winners of the F1 Constructors' Championship, McLaren's racing teams have a standard to uphold. Greene Tweed plans on helping McLaren keep that trophy in 2025 and beyond.
"Reliability is everything in motorsports," McCloskey said. "One mechanical failure can mean the difference between winning and losing. At Greene Tweed, we thrive in these high-pressure environments where there's no room for error. McLaren Racing knows all about that. They're constantly operating under intense pressure, pushing boundaries and meeting tight deadlines. That's why they trust our high-performance materials to deliver, no matter how intense the race gets."
In addition to holding up that standard, Greene Tweed officials cited the company's cutting-edge technological capabilities as a major plus in the partnership. Motorsport technology "changes at breakneck speed" according to McCloskey, and the team feels confident that Greene Tweed can help the team consistently stay ahead of the game through consistent innovation in material solutions, thermoplastics and seals.
"Our engineering team is collaborating closely with McLaren Racing to understand their precise requirements and deliver reliable, customized solutions that meet their unique challenges," McCloskey said. "By tailoring our expertise to fit McLaren's needs, we're enabling them to push the boundaries of performance and efficiency."
McCloskey spoke on the importance of technical partnerships like this one, saying that Greene Tweed's proprietary material solutions will remain exclusive to McLaren race teams.
"Our projects are proprietary, given the highly competitive nature of the sport and the importance of maintaining a unique edge," he said. "However, we can share that our material solutions are the result of years of research and development.
"We bring together advanced technology, innovative design processes, and a deep understanding of performance demands to deliver products that are strong, durable and incredibly precise."
Greene Tweed officials are looking forward to testing the firm's suite of technological advancements through the McLaren partnership, McCloskey said. The firm already partners with more than 30 other companies worldwide, according to its website. Having another real-world application like McLaren Racing Ltd. to help test new and innovative solutions is crucial to both Greene Tweed's continued advancement of the material solution and thermoplastics industries, and the success of McLaren teams.
"Hands-on collaboration with our partners and customers is at the heart of what we do at Greene Tweed," McCloskey said. "Motorsport thrives on collaboration and innovation—making it a perfect fit for our love of technology, teamwork, and speed. Every race is a chance to test cutting-edge engineering and drive breakthroughs that go far beyond the track."
