WADSWORTH, Ohio—Goldsmith & Eggleton Inc. will look to upgrade its polymer laboratory facilities with new equipment, information systems and streamlined operations.
G&E said a big part of its upgrades will be in data collection, as all test results and reporting will be exported from equipment to a database, eliminating written forms.
In addition, digitizing the processes reduces human error and aids in data storage and retrieval, according to G&E.
"The quality of the lab and what it delivers to our business is critical," said Gina Undicelli, chemical engineer and quality manager who oversees lab operations and systems. "We had a vision to make the lab as efficient as possible through technology, and to park our new equipment in an environment that highlighted our recent investments."
The supplier of rubber masterbatches and reprocessed elastomers said the lab upgrades include the addition of an RPA Elite and three MV1 Mooney viscosity machines.
A new furnace and ash oven already have been installed, and the lab mill and laboratory space will be upgraded to include improved technical customer support services, G&E said.
