SOMERVILLE, Mass.—Formlabs Inc. has released a new soft-touch powder for thermoplastic elastomers in 3D printing.
Known as TPU 90A Powder, the material is intended to be used with Fuse Series SLS printers.
"The TPU unlocks new possibilities in applications by combining the high-tear strength and elongation at break of rubber materials with the design freedom and durability of SLS 3D printing," according to Formlabs.

Since it is flexible, the powder works with soles, splints, orthotics and prosthetics; sports equipment; gaskets, seals masks and belts; and dampers and cushioning.
TPU 90A maintains a 20-percent refresh rate, the lowest of all the powders from Formlabs to date, according to the company, reducing the cost per part.
According to Formlabs, the Fuse series can produce geometrically advanced parts, processes that can be hampered by molding limitations or cost.
