BLOOMINGTON, Ill.—Flexitech Inc., a producer of high-pressure automotive brake lines, will close one of its six assembly plants with the planned shuttering of an automotive parts and accessories assembly plant in central Illinois.
According to a Feb. 28 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the Illinois workNet Center, Flexitech will begin initial layoffs at the end of this month, March 28, and the last person will be laid off by June.
About 109 workers will be affected between March 28 and June at the Flexitech plant in Bloomington. These layoffs will not be counted as additional ones since they were counted in the original notice but were not being laid off at that time.
Overall, about 139 workers will be affected at the plant, according to an initial WARN paperwork filed by Flexitech in April 2020 regarding the planned closure.
Across the globe, Flexitech has four engineering and sales offices, six assembly plants (including Bloomington) and three hose manufacturing facilities.
The company has about 1,200 employees worldwide.
