BRUSSELS—The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association has detailed the regulatory process relating to a proposed European Union ban on the use of rubber infill materials in synthetic turf applications.
Following the European Commission's issue of draft proposals, a dedicated REACH committee is scheduled to discuss the proposed restrictions on Sept. 23, noted ETRMA.
The committee will be composed of representatives of EU member states and be chaired by the European Commission, the industry association told European Rubber Journal.
"This very next meeting of REACH Committee is the first time the topic is on the agenda to be debated," according to the ETRMA.
The meeting will then be followed by discussions, scheduled for Oct. 26-27, ahead of a World Trade Organization notification regarding the restrictions.
The final stage in the regulatory approval process will be a discussion on Dec. 13-14, followed by a vote, the ETRMA statement concluded.
