More particularly, Enviro said the pyrolysis by-product had "acquired properties enhancing its interaction with other chemicals and ingredients when manufacturing tires and rubber parts."
The improved dispersion characteristics of the rCB mean end products—such as rubber, tires, plastics and pigments—can be produced more consistently and with "better outcomes."
As a result of the development, Enviro envisages being able to replace larger amounts of virgin carbon black than with conventional rCBs in several rubber compound applications.
The company added that use of rCB can reduce carbon emissions by up to 93 percent compared to using corresponding amounts of virgin carbon black.
