Dow earns six 2022 R&D Awards

MIDLAND, Mich.—Dow Inc. has won six awards and also has received a special recognition in the 2022 R&D 100 Awards.

The awards competition is conducted by R&D Magazine and is in its 60th year. Officials with Dow in Midland said the program is widely considered one of the most prestigious among the R&D community, honoring innovation pioneers and their contributions to science and technology.

"The ambitious nature of Team Dow has enabled us to create products that solve problems and add value to our everyday lives — from traffic construction to hair care," Dow Chief Technology Officer A.N. Sreeram said in a news release. "We are honored by this recognition, which greatly underscores our commitment to delivering innovations that are not only trailblazing, but created with sustainability, people and our planet in mind."

Dow has earned recognition on the R&D 100 list every year since 2012, and over that time has received 55 cumulative awards, the most of any company.

Dow's 2022 winners included:

• Elvaloy-brand post-consumer recycled asphalt compatibilizer, a polymeric additive for modified asphalt that builds longer lasting and higher load carrying roads. The material is supplied as free-flowing pellets that melt into hot asphalt to create a permanently modified asphaltic binder.

• Sustainable collation shrink film from Dowlex-brand polyethylene and Revoloop-brand recycling technology. This collaboration enables shrink film that protects goods, keeps them safe and clean, and incorporates recycled material.

• MaizeCare-brand clarity biopolymer for clear hair styling gels. This bio-based, biodegradable polymer provides a non-tacky feel for hair styling. The corn-based ingredient can be used as a high-performing fixative for curl retention and hair stiffness.

• Dowsil-brand cooling fluid, Duratrack-brand coatings and Maincote-brand emulsions also were recognized as winners.

In addition to the award winners, Revoloop PCR received a special recognition for inclusive recycling in the Corporate Social Responsibility category, which honors an organization's efforts to be a greater corporate member of society, from a local to global level.

Dow employs almost 36,000 worldwide. The firm ranks as one of the world's largest producers of polyethylene and other specialty plastics and chemicals.
