TOKYO—Denka Corp. has resumed production of chloroprene rubber at its Omi site in Itoigawa, Niigata, six months after a fatal accident at the facility.
CR production was suspended at the site after one person was killed and two others injured in a pipe-burst incident there on June 14.
"Based on an order issued by the authorities, we suspended operations of certain related equipment of the chloroprene rubber production facility," Denka said in a Dec. 19 statement. The company was recently notified by the authorities that the suspension order was lifted.
The clearance means the authorities have approved measures taken "to maintain safety and prevent the occurrence of accidents," it added.
As a result, production operations at its chloroprene monomer 5MC plant were resumed on Dec. 18.
