TROY, Mich.—Dayco Products will expand its portfolio for commercial vehicle and heavy-duty applications in viscous dampers via a partnership with China-based Jiangsu Hongfeng Co. Ltd. (HFAK).
Troy-based Dayco makes engine products and drive systems for the automotive and industrial markets. The company launched the partnership May 3.
With more than 15 years of experience in silicon oil damper production for diesel engines in China, HFAK maintains a lean manufacturing philosophy that will assist Dayco, the company said.
"Dayco is committed to delivering our customers the most innovative, top of the line solutions. Combining Dayco's product technology with HFAK's viscous damper production experience will allow Dayco to deliver on that promise swiftly," said Wouter Nijenhuis, executive vice president of OE sales and business development for Dayco.
Dayco wants to bring its production sites closer to its customers, and this partnership is a move toward this end, Dayco said, adding that it is planning in-house production of viscous dampers in other global locales, including India later this year.
"Viscous dampers are designed to maximize power system stability while minimizing noise, torsional crankshaft vibrations and harshness, this premium line of dampers helps prevent crankshaft failures and extends the lifespan of associated components while improving a vehicle's overall fuel economy," Dayco said in a press release. "With this new addition, Dayco rounds out its damper product line offering."
The company said it also will market viscous dampers with decouplers for premium light and heavy-duty vehicles.
