PAWCATUCK, Conn.—Davis-Standard L.L.C. has reached rarefied air in the manufacturing space, using 100-percent carbon-free electricity to power its North American facilities.
Davis-Standard offers polymer processing solutions and makes extrusion equipment, including controls, feedscrews and retrofits for aftermarket customers.
"We are incredibly proud to announce that all of our North American facilities are now powered by 100-percent carbon- free electricity," said Davis-Standard CEO Giovanni Spitale. "This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to sustainability and underscores our dedication to reducing our environmental impact."
Spitale said certifications like Green-e and ISO 14001 demonstrate proactive steps toward a more sustainable future "for generations to come."
"This achievement solidifies Davis-Standard's commitment to environmental stewardship and underscores its leadership in sustainable manufacturing practices within the industry," he said.
The milestone, which Davis-Standard achieved via the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates for its Pawcatuck and Fulton, N.Y., facilities, aligns with the company's overarching sustainability goals, the company said.
The certificates "guarantee" that electricity to power Davis-Standard's production facilities comes from renewable sources, like solar or wind power.
Davis-Standard's Greater Toronto Area operations also use electricity sourced from hydroelectric sources.
"This accomplishment complements Davis-Standard's existing ISO 14001-certified facilities and its Maillefer brand's EcoVadis Silver Award, highlighting the company's dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility across its operations," according to Davis-Standard.
Founded in 1848, Davis-Standard is an international design, development, distribution and aftermarket firm. Its systems encompass more than 11 product lines to support the infrastructure, building and construction, consumer products, medical and packaging markets.
The company has manufacturing and technical facilities in the U.S., Canada, China, Germany, Finland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
