ALTDORF, Switzerland—Datwyler Holding Inc. has reaffirmed its sustainability commitments by joining the Science Based Targets initiative and establishing binding greenhouse gas reduction targets. This, Datwyler said, underscores its commitment to being a responsible partner for all of its stakeholders.
"At Datwyler, we recognize our impact on climate change, and by joining the Science Based Targets initiative, we are demonstrating how seriously we take our role in tackling the climate challenge," Chief Sustainability Officer Sabrina Gerard said in a statement. "It's our responsibility to take meaningful action and to contribute to building a sustainable future."
In the next few months, Datwyler said it "will specify ambitious and achievable emission reduction targets with a time horizon of 5-10 years, which will be reviewed and approved by SBTi."
SBTi is the leading framework for science-based climate targets, aligning itself with the Paris Climate Agreement and the aim to reduce global warming to 1.5 degrees C above pre-industrial levels. The 9,000 companies committed to the SBTi targets show how scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions can evolve to meet the Paris Climate Agreement goals.
Sustainability has been a pillar for Datwyler, which has been publishing its sustainability report in accordance with the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards for 16 years. The annual report focuses on the progress made across a range of areas related to environment, social and corporate governance.
