Detroit-based Crain Communications, the parent company of Crain's Detroit Business and Rubber News, has acquired Kneed Media, parent company of the Journal of Precision Medicine and its accompanying series, the Precision Medicine Leaders Summit.
The brand provides coverage of precision medicine from early research through clinical care.
Kneed Media will join forces with Crain news organization GenomeWeb, an online outlet covering the scientific and business ecosystem spurred by advances in molecular biology and personalized medicine. GenomeWeb was acquired by Crain in 2019 and is based in New York.
The Kneed Media acquisition was finalized on Dec. 22. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Kneed Media's commitment to informing the precision medicine community aligns perfectly with GenomeWeb's editorial mission of tracking the adoption and implementation of genomics and biomarker-driven health care strategies," said KC Crain, CEO and president of Crain Communications.
Kneed Media is led by Nigel Russell, founder and president, and Deanna Russell, chief of operations.
"We are delighted to join the GenomeWeb family at a time when the prevalence of precision medicine is increasing across the globe," said Nigel Russell. "Through this agreement, we look forward to leveraging the scale of GenomeWeb's comprehensive market-leading platform in both the research and clinical markets. The combination of events, up-to-the-minute news and in-depth editorial coverage will make the combined company the go-to source for everything precision medicine."
Crain's portfolio consists of 21 brands, including Automotive News, Ad Age, Modern Healthcare and business brands in Detroit, Chicago, New York and Cleveland.
