SHANGHAI—Covestro A.G. has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Chinese faux leather maker Anli.
The two parties will work together in the development, application and market promotion of waterborne polyurethane leather and composite materials.
The partnership aims to create a benchmark project for waterborne PU materials and speed up the exploration of innovation in new technologies, Covestro said.
"It's another milestone on Covestro's technological path to greener textile coatings," Torsten Pohl, the firm's global head of textile coatings, said in the release.
Under the agreement, Covestro will produce and provide related technology for waterborne PU resin. Anli will focus on the application and market promotion for such leather in areas including home furnishing, auto interior, functional footwear, consumer electronics, accessory and engineering décor.
"Anli will make full use of its advantages in development and application, and provide scenarios and projects for Covestro's waterborne PU resin ... to make joint breakthroughs in new products and new technology," Anli chairman Yao Heping said.
