MEDICINE HAT, Alberta—Cancarb Ltd. has called Alberta home for the last five decades. And there is something to be said about feeling at home.
"Fifty years operating in southeastern Alberta has meant everything to Cancarb," company President Peter Donnelly said in a statement. "It has allowed our company to flourish and rely on the people who call this area home, while servicing customers around the globe."
That's why, in recognition of its 50th anniversary, Cancarb gave back to the communities—and the people—that have embraced and supported it, allowing it to thrive.
"This donation to the Cancarb Employee and Alumni Endowment Fund will ensure organizations that support the most at-risk in our community have the support they need, now and well into the future," Donnelly said.
As part of 50th Anniversary celebrations, Cancarb donated $50,000 to the Cancarb Employee and Alumni Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta.
Established in 1992, the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta is committed to making meaningful connections between donors and local charities for the permanent benefit of Southern Alberta. Cancarb partnered with CFSEA to create an endowment fund with the goal to leave a lasting legacy through charitable donations.
Established in 1973, Cancarb, now part of Tokai Carbon Co. Ltd., operates the largest thermal carbon black production facility. At its Medicine Hat location, the company produces 54,000 metric tons of sustainable carbon black using natural gas.
