BOSTON—Cabot Corp. will raise prices on carbon black products sold by its specialty carbons segment, the chemical manufacturer said in a statement.
The price hike takes effect Dec. 1 on products sold globally, according to Cabot. In addition, started instituting a surcharge Nov. 1 on specialty carbon black products sold in Europe.
"This price increase is necessitated by the significant rise in prime raw material costs across regions," Cabot said, adding the surcharge is necessary to address "the unprecedented and rapid increase in natural gas costs."
The adjustments, Cabot said, will enable investments in new products and applications.
Cabot provides carbon black, specialty carbons, activated carbon, elastomer composites, ink jet colorants, masterbatches and conductive compounds, fumed silica and aerogel.
