INDEPENDENCE, Ohio—Barentz B.V. will offer Valtris Specialty Chemicals' products in the U.S. and Canada, after the two firms reached a distribution agreement March 1.
Specifically, Barentz will distribute Valtris plasticizers and additives for the rubber and plastics industries. Barentz distributes almost exclusively for the life science ingredients and specialty performance materials markets.
"We are pleased to have Barentz on board with us as a distributor for the U.S. and Canada," said Karl Billast, global sales director for Valtris' performance additives unit. "We recognize Barentz' strong technical capabilities to represent Valtris for mixed metal stabilizers, biocides, Vulcabond bonding agents and Santicizer products for CASE, PVC and the lubricant markets."
Valtris began manufacturing performance additives and solvents more than 80 years ago.
"We are excited with this new partnership and the opportunity to offer our customers an expanded range of high-performance products to support their growth and competitiveness in the market," said Mike McKenna, CEO of Barentz North America. "Valtris' portfolio complements our existing products and together we look forward to providing differentiated solutions that create real value for our customers."
Valtris is headquartered in Independence and has an international customer base. Valtris has nine manufacturing locations and employs approximately 700 people across North America, Europe and Asia.
Outside its distribution channels, Barentz, established in 1953, provides value-added technical support, including pre-mixing, blending, ingredient formulation and ingredient testing.
The company has net sales of about $2.7 billion per year.
