MELKSHAM, U.K.—Avon Protection P.L.C. has received a delivery order—worth $39 million—from the U.S. Army for the supply of “next-generation integrated head protection systems.”
The United Kingdom-based manufacturer is currently ramping up manufacturing after having completed “rigorous testing” for the helmets, said Avon in a Sept. 29 statement.
Initial deliveries are set to start in the first half of financial year 2023 (which started Oct. 1), said Avon, noting that the deal positioned it “as the leading helmet supplier to the US department of defense.”
"The receipt of this first delivery order is an important milestone for the NG IHPS," said the then CEO Paul McDonald.
The deal, he went on to say, is "a critical step" in rolling out the "advanced life-saving technology" to U.S. military personnel.
The program, according to McDonald, consolidates Avon’s position “as a global leader” in head protection technology, and specifically in high-specification ballistic helmets.
