MELKSHAM, U.K.—Avon Protection P.L.C. has rebranded its Artis materials and rubber R&D lab to Avon Protection to align innovation capabilities with the United Kingdom manufacturing brand.
With the rebranding, the research arm will continue "providing rubber and polymer research and development capabilities to our customers worldwide," Avon Protection said in a Nov. 6 statement. The services cover a broad range customers in sectors such as defense, transport, and oil and gas.
Located at the group's Hampton Park West site in Melksham, the facility is "fully equipped to conduct rubber compound development; physical and mechanical testing and assessment of temperature and environmental effects."
Furthermore, the unit can conduct chemical analysis, defect investigations, and the characterization of the properties and in-rubber performance of new filler materials and other ingredients.
In line with Avon Protection's sustainability ambitions, the unit is currently working on recovered carbon black and silica from end-of-life tires as well as on "characterization of devulcanized material from waste rubber."
With "more than 100 years of experience in rubber and other polymer materials," the rebranding signifies dedication to innovation within Avon Protection, said Marin Spencer, vice president of engineering.
