MELKSHAM, U.K.—Avon Protection P.L.C. has been selected by the German navy to supply its Multi-Role Rebreather for military diving operations.
The "multi-million euro" order includes the supply of the products and ongoing technical support, the United Kingdom-based manufacturer said in a Jan. 15 press release.
Avon said the contract will provide "cutting-edge technologies and enhanced operability" for German military diving personnel.
Developed in collaboration with the U.K.'s Defence Science & Technology Laboratory and Royal Norwegian Navy, the rebreather is an electronically controlled, closed circuit, mixed-gas product.
Avon claims the product will "excel" in both shallow- and deep-water military diving applications and be optimized for explosive-ordnance disposal, mine countermeasures and special operations diving.
Features include innovative operational functionalities that help to deliver "significantly enhanced diver safety and extended mission duration," the company said.
