AKRON—The deadline for application for Rubber Division scholarships and technical training support has been extended to April 1. The scholarships are intended to make education and professional development more accessible to rubber industry students and employees.
Three $5,000 undergraduate scholarships are available for students pursuing degrees in rubber technology, polymer science or the chemical profession.
Two of the $5,000 scholarships, provided through the Rubber Division, are open to students entering their junior or senior year in the fall-spring academic year.
A third $5,000 scholarship, the Russell Mazzeo Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship, is available from the former Connecticut Rubber Group.
"This award serves to honor the dedication to education and Rubber Division, ACS that Russ showed during his nearly 50 years in the rubber industry," the scholarship application web page states.
Information about these and other scholarships available through a number of rubber groups is available at rubber.org/student-scholarships.
In addition, the Rubber Division provides $1,250 stipends for industry employees, allowing them to attend events at a spring or fall Rubber Division meeting. Events include seminars/workshops, technical presentations, banquets, networking opportunities and expos.
A nomination letter from a rubber group is required as part of the stipend application process. Additional information is available at rubber.org/rubber-technology-training-award.
