Ammega Belting Technology Conference deemed successful

BRASELTON, Ga.—Ammega Americas' new manufacturing facilities in Buford, Ga., were highlighted and industry challenges were met head-on at a recent gathering of the minds, sponsored by the conveying and power transmission company.

The inaugural Ammega Belting Technology Conference was conducted May 16-19 at Chateau Elan, and the intent—an idea originated by Ammega America's President Tom Doring—was to "create an environment where industry leaders from the OEM, user and distribution channels can meet with ... experts in technology, automation and material sciences to discuss ... challenges faced daily within industries."

The gathering had keynote presentations on the future of manufacturing; supply chain disruptions; disruptive technology; and economics.

In addition, there were networking dinners and entertainment, as well as tours of Ammega's nearby Buford facility, completed in fall 2021, part of Ammeraal Beltech Inc.; and the Megadyne Engineered Specialty Belt plant, also located in Buford.

Both companies are a part of Ammega Group.

Ammeral's lightweight belting production facility is the group's 11th global manufacturing site and fifth facility in the U.S.

The $19 million, 125,000-sq.-ft. facility in Hall County, Ga., produces lightweight rubber belts, specifically PVC and urethane conveyor belts, for distributors and OEMs, with a focus on the food and logistics spaces.

Hirings continue as the facility creates 83 jobs, Ammega said.

Alkmaar, Netherlands-based Ammeraal employs 2,750 people globally across 90 sites. Ammeraal is one of three major segments for Ammega Group, which was formed in 2018 when Megadyne Group, a power transmission company, merged with Ammeraal Beltech. Ammega later added Jason Industrial, its fluid power segment.

The Georgia facility will support Ammeraal's continued growth in the U.S., as it joins other Ammeraal facilities in Skokie, Ill. (production, fabrication and U.S. conveying headquarters); Lackawanna, N.Y. (fabrication); Grand Prairie, Texas (fabrication); and the Pennsylvania cities of Reading (production, modular belts) and Jefferson (fabrication).
