MARIETTA, Ga.—Birla Carbon, a leading manufacturer and supplier of carbon black and high-quality carbon-based solutions, is receiving sustainability accreditation around the world. All Birla Carbon manufacturing plants are ISCC Plus certified as of Nov. 5, the company said in a statement.
The accreditation recognizes "compliance with sustainability standards for bio-based and circular raw materials," the company said.
Birla Carbon President and CEO John Loudermilk said this accomplishment is further proof of the company's mission to meet the rising demand for sustainable products.
"Achieving ISCC Plus certification across all our global carbon black manufacturing plants is not just a milestone for Birla Carbon, but a testament to our leadership in driving sustainability and circularity in the industry," Loudermilk said.
Loudermilk added that the company also recently announced its first Asia Post Treatment Plant in Mumbai, India, and introduced Continua 8030 Sustainable Carbonaceous Material in October. Both additions further advance Birla Carbon's march toward net zero carbon emissions by 2050, Loudermilk said.
"Continua 8030 marks a significant milestone in our sustainability journey across India and Asia," Loudermilk said. "This product exemplifies Birla Carbon's commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions at scale that empower our customers to increase the recycled content in their own products while maintaining operational efficiency."
Along with the introduction of Continua 8030, the ISCC Plus accreditation shows that Birla Carbon is fully committed to sustainability across the supply chain, Loudermilk said. The company will continue to move toward a fully circular product portfolio, he added, and its work in the realm of sustainability is far from over.
"As we continue to innovate, we remain dedicated to supporting our customers and fostering a more sustainable future for generations to come while living our purpose, to share the strength," Loudermilk said.
