The ACS Rubber Division is hosting its first WORD (Women of the Rubber Division) Conversation of the year with featured guest Tina Darnell of Chardon Custom Polymers.
The virtual event—March 27 from noon to 1 p.m. eastern time—will take place via Zoom, and registration is free. The event will begin with a 10-minute open networking session before a conversation with Darnell, current secretary, and Kim Dempsey-Miller, former Rubber Division chair.
Darnell has worked in the rubber and plastics industry for 26 years, holding leadership roles in technical sales, materials engineering, product support and operations. Currently, she is the director of sales at Chardon Custom Polymers. She has led in Tier 1 and OEM environment, supporting the aerospace, automotive sealing, noise and vibration control, tires and retreading, chemical manufacturing and custom mixing market segments.
Within the Rubber Division, Darnell has served on the Fort Wayne Rubber & Plastics Group Board as the chair and with the Ohio Rubber Group as technical program chair, membership, scholarship co-chair and area director. She previously served on the Rubber Division's Executive Committee as director's representative.
She currently is the division secretary on the path to become the 2028 chair.
Darnell has been actively involved in the Division's WORD program and participated as a panelist for the first ever WORD Event during the 2019 International Elastomer Conference.
The theme of this upcoming WORD Conversation will be March Madness. Attendees are encouraged to represent their favorite NCAA basketball team or to wear green or St. Patrick's Day accessories.
