AKRON—The ACS Rubber Division will host several online training courses that can be taken from the comfort of a home or office.
The courses are viewed live as they are taught at the Elastomer Training Center in Akron, which has an interactive smart classroom, according to the Rubber Division.
Upcoming courses include:
• Introduction to Compounding, Mixing and Testing: Feb. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Topics for this class on compounding elastomers include fillers, oils/plasticizers and curing agents; the mixing and testing of elastomer compounds and how to select an elastomer for a given application; trouble shooting during the mixing process; and a history of rubber mixing equipment.
• Compounding Fluoroelastomers: Feb. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. According to the division, this course on synthetic elastomers has high tolerances for heat and fluids, and can be used when other elastomers will not work.
• Processing and Testing of Rubber: March 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Taught by three instructors, this class will focus on mixing, extrusion, molding and testing of rubber products, and will benefit technical personnel at rubber plants.
