Rubber Division recognizes key members at 2022 IEC

Pim Warasitthinon of DuPont presents the 2021 Best Paper Award to Tyler Gruber of Birla Carbon. The title of the paper was "3D Analysis of Carbon BLack-View from the Frontier." His co-authors were Katherine Cauffiel of the Georgia Institute of Technology and Ryan Waldheim from Birla Carbon.

Chris Robertson (left), editor of Rubber Chemistry & Technology, presents the 2021 Publication Excellence Award to Dayakar Penumadu (Center) of the University of Tennessee and Peter Chapman of Eastman Chemical. The co-authors were Jun-Chan Chin, Stephen Young, Frederick Ignatz-Hoover and Tom Floyd. Ignatz-Hoover and Floyd are now with Flexsys, formerly the Tire Additives division of Eastman. The title of the paper was titled “Sulfur Dispersion Quantitative Analysis by Using High Resolution X-ray Computed Technology.”

KNOXVILLE—The ACS Rubber Division kicked off the final day of the 2022 International Elastomer Conference on Oct. 13 with its second annual Awards Breakfast, honoring key members of the division for the work they put into the rubber industry.

2022 division Chairman Jim Eddy welcomed attendees to the ballroom of the Knoxville Convention Center, where he announced the recipients of this year’s awards.

Honors included several scholarships, the Best Paper Award, the Publication Excellence Award, service awards, the esteemed Distinguished Service Award, the recognition of corporate sponsors and long-time members, and 2023 elections and appointments
