RAVENNA, Ohio—Ace Laboratories Ltd. is reassuring its commitment to sustainability in the global polymer industry with a new collaborative agreement.
The rubber testing and development laboratory, formerly known as Ace Products and Consulting L.L.C., is working with Advanced Sustainable Polymers Pte. Ltd. (ASP) of Singapore to develop and commercialize sustainable materials for use in elastomer and asphalt applications.
"We have always had a strong passion to grow sustainability in the polymer industry," said Erick Sharp, founder and CEO of Ace. "We are excited to be working with ASP on this mission to accelerate the development of some of the exciting new technologies and materials that will provide sustainable and real circular solutions for the industry."
Using recycled polymers, bio-based polymers and other elastomeric materials manufactured in a carbon neutral process, Ace will utilize its "state-of-the-art" laboratory to conduct studies and analyses of sustainable materials in a range of polymer applications, as well as support ASP with the commercialization of these materials in asphalt and non-tire applications, Ace said in a July 21 news release.
ASP, a merchandiser of technically advanced solutions to the global polymer-consuming marketplace, is committed to building a portfolio of technologies that will reduce supply chain carbon emissions and price volatility, Ace said.
With this new strategic relationship, the two companies will "work together to develop and qualify materials for commercial applications that offer significant environmental benefits for manufacturers and can help them to meet their sustainability goals," it added.
"The future of reliable and cost-efficient polymer supply chains lies in a combination of virgin materials from sustainable origins, and recycled materials," said Robert Meyer, founder of ASO and co-founder and former chairman and CEO of Singapore-listed Halcyon Agri Corporation Ltd.
Meyer called the alliance a win-win for the companies, as it allows them to partner and share best practices.
"ASP provides Ace with access to tire-derived polymers, manufactured using the Tyromer process, whilst Ace provides ASP with laboratory and technical support," he said. "This is a win-win situation that sets us up to deliver top-notch products and unrivaled services to our clients."
