HOUSTON—Singer Equities Inc. has purchased Dallas-based 4-Star Hose & Supply in a deal that will expand Singer's footprint in Texas. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
4-Star distributes and fabricates industrial hose, hydraulic hose, metal hose, composite hose, fittings, valves and pumps from five locations in Texas. The sites are in Dallas, Fort Worth, Midland, Pleasanton and Cleburne.
The distributor was founded in 1983 and has been owned by the Culhane family since 2002. 4-Star has 70 full-time employees and supplies customers in the oil/gas, steel, chemical, and food and beverage markets, according to a news release from Singer Equities, a wholly owned subsidiary of Houston-based SBP Holdings.
The three owners of the business—Keith, Kelly and Brent Culhane—will remain with the business, which will continue operating under the 4-Star Hose & Supply name, said Singer Equities President Sam Petillo.
Kelly Culhane said the sale will allow the operation to leverage Singer's scale and product offering to help it better service customers, while Brent Culhane said "being part of the Singer family will provide new growth opportunities for 4-Star and our employees."
Singer Equities is one of three verticals under the SBP Holdings umbrella, focusing on the industrial rubber and related businesses. Including the other two platform companies—Bishop Lifting Products and Dakota Fluid Power—SBP Holdings has 92 locations throughout North America.
