DENVER—Rubber hose and belt maker Gates Corp. is reporting lower greenhouse gas emissions, energy use and water consumption in the company's latest sustainability report.
The report, which covers 2019, also saw total waste generation decrease. But when measured in relation to sales, waste per $1 million in sales increased over 2018 because revenues were lower.
"Adhering to our corporate values has led Gates through more than a century in business, enabling us to expand and thrive in good times and persevere through turbulent periods," CEO Ivo Jurek said in a statement. "Today, with more than 100 Gates facilities operating in 30 countries around the world, we take very seriously our responsibility as a global corporate citizen and are proud of the progress we've made."
The latest sustainability report "covers the company's alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and describes a holistic methodology to minimize environmental impact," the company said.
