2022 Rubber Division Science and Technology Awards

Steve Cron (left) and Tim Rhyne, both retired from Michelin, were the co-recipients of the Charles Goodyear Medal, the highest honor given out by the ACS Rubber Division. The duo led the development of Michelin's Tweel non-pneumatic tire technology.

Anil K. Bhowmick (left), a research professor for the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Houston, received the Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award. He is with Russ Vogelsong of Lion Elastomers, sponsor of the award.

Changwoon Nah, recipient of the George Stafford Whitby Award for Distinguished Teaching & Research, with his wife Sangji Park during the Rubber Division's 2022 Science & Technology Awards Banquet.

Baochun Guo, a professor at the South University of Technology's Department of Polymer Materials and Engineering,was honored with the 2022 Sparks-Thomas Award, given to young scientists. Guo was unable to accept the award in person.

Krishna Venkataswamy, president and CEO of Innovation Development Insights, was the 2022 recipient of the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award.

Gerald Potts (right), founder, president and chief technical officer of TMSI, received the Fernley H. Banbury Award. He is with Erick Sharp, founder of Ace Laboratories, which was the sponor of the award.

Krisi Kiick, a professor at the University of Delaware, received the Bioelastomer Award, which recognizes significant contributions to the advancement of biomaterials.
