LONDON—Natural rubber market trends were mixed in the immediate aftermath of the Russian war on Ukraine, with Shanghai futures posting the biggest decline.
Compared to Feb. 12, Shanghai Futures' weekly average for the most active rubber contract for May delivery closed 3.6 percent lower at $2,208 (Yuan 13,955) per metric ton on Feb. 25, one day after Russian troops invaded Ukraine.
Japanese Osaka Exchange rubber contract for July delivery closed 2.9 percent higher on the day, although commodities markets in Japan started to slide in the wake of Moscow's assault.
In physical markets, Kottayam RSS4 was down 2.3 percent while Kuala Lumpur SMR20 saw a marginal growth compared to two weeks before.
