Zeppelin Systems establishes Italian competence center

REGGIO EMILIA, Italy—Zeppelin Systems GmbH is growing in Italy with the opening of a competence center in Reggio Emilia. The 53,800-sq.-ft. facility, renovated during a six-month period, expands the company's production capacity and further strengthens its ability to serve the rubber and tire, food and polyolefin sectors across Italy.

For those operating in the polyolefin space, specifically, the competence center offers a contact point to get advice and expertise, the company said in a news release.

Moreover, the introduction of a new warehouse system, coupled with the nearby high-speed train lines, further strengthens Zeppelin's ability to meet market needs with faster availability of spare parts.

"The new premises in the Reggio Emilia industrial estate are a benefit for our customers, our suppliers and also our employees," Marco Ferrari, managing director of Zeppelin Systems, said in a statement. "They are very conveniently located, as we have excellent connections via a network of motorways as well as the high-speed train line between Rome, Bologna and Milan, Italy."

Sustainability also is at the heart of the new facility, which features rooftop solar panels, sustainable electric systems and thermal insulation.

"As with all our buildings and premises, sustainability is an important factor for us," Zeppelin Systems Managing Director Ralf Boschert said in a statement, noting that the implementations "significantly improved the building's CO2 balance."
