PHNOM PENH, Cambodia—Wanli Tire Co. Ltd. is investigating a project to build a tire manufacturing facility in Cambodia, taking advantage of the country's incentives for inward investment.
A "high-ranking" delegation led by Wanli Chairman Wang Song met with officials from Cambodia's investment board May 30 to discuss a potential investment.
The delegation discussed "business facilitation" and related incentives offered by the country, according to a statement by the Council for the Development of Cambodia.
Wanli Tire, for its turn, stated that Cambodia "is a potential and attractive investment destination" for the company's overseas investment decisions.
If it proceeds, Wanli would join three other Chinese tire makers currently investing in Cambodia, amid increasing import-duties on tires originating from China.
Sailun Group is already operating a $345 million tire production plant in Svay Rieng, Cambodia—started up in November 2021.
