Vibracoustic expanding production capacity to meet new customer projects

DARMSTADT, Germany—Vibracoustic S.E. has expanded production and assembly capacity for several products across its manufacturing facilities in Europe, the U.S. and Mexico.

In an April 11 statement to European Rubber Journal, the German automotive supplier said it had made "significant investments" in new production lines and equipment.

Vibracoustic said the investments are driven by new customer projects, noting a "substantial increase" in global demand for light vehicle air springs.

"To meet this demand, we have invested in several locations with air spring production and assembly capabilities, such as Hamburg, Germany, and Lerma, Mexico."

At Lerma, for instance, Vibracoustic said it had expanded production to support the Americas region with locally produced air spring products.

Further investments were made at sites in Germany, Spain, Poland, the U.S., Mexico and China to support various launches of rubber-metal products.

Vibracoustic did not provide details about the investment figures or products involved, though it did cite air springs for electric vehicles as a key growth area.

These products, it stated, increase driving comfort and driving dynamics, while enabling the lowering of the car at high speeds for improved aerodynamics.

Furthermore, the technology is claimed to optimize the airflow under the car for better passive battery cooling.

"It is a cost-effective solution for ride height adjustability of lower segment cars including smaller EVs," the company said.
