TriMas Corp. has expanded its clean room injection molding capacity in Denver.
The 3,400-sq.-ft. project is in addition to the existing 9,000-sq.-ft. Class 8 clean room at the former Intertech Plastics operation.
Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based TriMas said it has also invested in additional clean room capability at a second Denver-area facility.
TriMas, a publicly traded company, bought Intertech Plastics in 2022 to bolster its medical molding business.
The new clean room includes dedicated space for molding and secondary operations. TriMas announced the news Dec. 18.
"Our increased investments in the life sciences end market continue to be an important long-term strategic enhancement for TriMas," said Thomas Amato, president and CEO at TriMas.
"By expanding our clean room production capabilities, we are addressing the growing demand needs of our customers, while remaining at the forefront of stringent regulatory standards."
TriMas' life sciences division is made up of its Intertech and Omega businesses. It includes pharmaceutical and nutraceutical production lines, and makes complex and precision injection molded components.
"Even though we make caps and closures and dispensing products, there's quite a bit of engineering and innovation that goes into it," said Chief Financial Officer Scott Mell. "That's an area we have invested quite heavily in."
"We remain cautiously optimistic on 2024 demand," he added.
Capabilities include rapid prototyping, production molds, custom medical-related components like consumable vascular delivery and surgical devices.
