RUTHERFORDTON, N.C.—Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, one of three main business segments for Sweden-based Trelleborg A.B., will invest about $28.3 million in an expanded production facility for engineered coated fabrics in central North Carolina.
Trelleborg's engineered coated fabrics line is used in aircraft escape slides, water infrastructure and advanced materials for health care and outdoor products.
"The investment creates opportunities for continued growth in our globally leading business in engineered coated fabrics, which is part of the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions business area," said Peter Nilsson, president and CEO of Trelleborg Group. "Through this expansion, we are adding new technology, production and development capacity in a state-of-the-art facility, strengthening our role as a long-term partner to our customers."
Trelleborg Industrial Solutions will break ground on the new facility by the fourth quarter of this year, with production set to begin in early 2026.
Sustainability will be at the fore for the new building, as it will be LEED-certified and carbon neutral in its production and energy emissions.
Trelleborg Group saw sales of about $3.2 billion in 2023. Other main business units for Trelleborg are Trelleborg Sealing Solutions and Trelleborg Medical Solutions.
