OTROKOVICE, Czech Republic—Trelleborg Wheel Systems S.p.A. has completed an expansion project at its agricultural tire production plant in Otrokovice, in southeastern Czech Republic.
The two-year, multi-million-dollar project, increased the plant's capacity by 50 percent, making it "one of the most technologically advanced sites in the industry," Trelleborg said.
Trelleborg disclosed the expansion project in 2019, a move made to support the addition of earthmover tires to its OTR product portfolio.
The facility, Trelleborg said in a statement, is "one of the most technologically advanced sites in the industry."
Trelleborg took over the Otrokovice plant as part of its 2016 acquisition of Czech-based CGS Holding and its Mitas tire operations. The plant's capacity prior to this expansion was 42,000 metric tons per year of farm and construction tires, according to Rubber News' Global Tire Report.
According to Czech media, the expansion project involved the construction of a 172,000-sq.-ft. hall connected to the existing manufacturing building and involved the transfer of 100 jobs from Trelleborg's nearby Zlín, Czech Republic, site.
