GO DAU, Vietnam—Sailun plans to pump $464 million into the expansion of its Vietnam plant in Go Dau.
The expansion constitutes phase 3 of the plant and includes designed annual capacity for 3 million unit passenger car tires, 1 million unit truck/bus tires and 50,000 tons of off-the-road tires, the company said in January.
Phase 3 will take three years to complete and create 1,516 new jobs, Sailun said. It will sell to Europe and the U.S., and generate an average annual net profit of $100 million on $440 million sales when on stream.
The plant has been operating since 2013 and is able to produce 1.4 million unit truck and bus tires, 10 million unit passenger car tires, and 35,000 tons of off-the-road tires.
Sailun also has a JV with Cooper named ACTR, which started operation in November 2019. It has 2.4 million annual capacity for truck and bus tires.
