CERRITOS, Calif.—R.D. Abbott Co. Inc. and 3M Co. have signed an agreement that will expand R.D. Abbott's distribution of 3M Advanced Materials into Canada. Prior to the agreement, R.D. Abbott only represented 3M in the U.S.
The new agreement, which took effect July 1, will be carried out by Ontario-based R.D. Abbott Canada Ltd.
"We are excited to implement this new agreement and look forward to leveraging our knowledge of the Canadian rubber market," Greg Hrenya, R.D. Abbott's vice president of business development said in a statement. "Our teams have the experience and expertise to grow demand for 3M Advanced Materials."
Moving forward, R.D. Abbott Canada will carry 3M's fluroelastomers, perfluoroelastomers and FKM curatives and process aids. Available 3M products can be used in a range of applications such as transportation, electronics, oil and gas, chemical processing, defense, rubber and plastics, paints and coatings, industrial, energy and health care industries.
Some of these applications are high-performance seals for hot-running turbine engines and semiconductor manufacturing; low-permeation fuel hoses that help reduce automotive emissions; and weather-resistant, transparent membrane structures.
Brands available through R.D. Abbott in the U.S. will be available in Canada, including 3M Dyneon elastomers that provide thermal and chemical resistance, low permeation, excellent processability and service life and demonstrate capability with a variety of molding and extrusion processes, R.D. Abbott said in a news release.
