DILLINGEN, Germany—German tire recycler Pyrum Innovations A.G. is planning to build a new end-of-life tire pyrolysis plant in the Czech Republic in partnership with an unnamed Czech energy company.
The company has signed a consulting contract with "a subsidiary of the group of companies" to prepare for the submission of the local building application, Pyrum said in an Oct. 10 news release.
The facility will have the capacity to process 20,000 metric tons of used tires per year and will be built in a Czech border region with Germany. Scheduled for operation in 2025, the unit will be operated as a joint venture, with Pyrum expecting to have a 30-percent stake.
The selected location, Pyrum said, also offers sufficient space for future capacity expansion, with the size of the plant having the potential to double by 2027. The existing structure also has a gas turbine that can convert the pyrolysis gas into electricity in the future.
