SAN LUIS POTOSI, Mexico—Polish rubber parts manufacturer Sanok Rubber Co. has opened a production plant in San Luis Potosi, in central Mexico.
The plant officially was inaugurated in October in the presence dignitaries and customers such as Ford, BMW, Webasto, the manufacturer said in a recent statement.
Named SMX Rubber Co., the Mexican subsidiary manufactures automotive parts and delivered its first sales in August last year.
The company specializes in EPDM multi-component extrusion; injection moulding of EPDM and natural rubber as well as precision cutting and notching for mutli-component profiles.
With more than 326 automotive-related companies, San Luis Potosi is the second biggest manufacturing region in Mexico after Guanajuato, according to local officials.
In 2018, the region exported $12 billion in manufactured goods, of which $10.5 billion were related to the automotive sector, Gustavo Puente Orozco, secretary of economic development of San Luis Potosi said last year.
In June 2019, the BMW Group opened its $1 billion new automotive plant in San Luis Potosi, with the capacity to produce 175,000 units per year.
Based in Sanok, Poland, Sanok Rubber is specializes in the production of rubber and rubber-metal components.
Among others, the company manufactures products that are used in car body sealing systems, car suspension and exhaust systems, as well as power transmission and fuel and cooling systems.
Sanok operates four segments: automotive, construction, rubber compounds and agriculture.
