Nokian opens warehouse in Utah to serve western U.S. customers

SALT LAKE CITY—Nokian Tyres North America has opened a warehouse in Salt Lake City to serve its growing customer base in the western U.S.

The warehouse, rated at 40,000 tires capacity, allows the company to reach customers throughout the region—including California, the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain areas—with next-day delivery.

"As demand for our products grows, we're scaling our infrastructure to strengthen our ability to serve our customers' needs," Tommi Heinonen, vice president of sales, said.

"The Salt Lake City warehouse," he said, "is one of many steps we continue to take to make sure we're equipped to support our growing customer base."

The new facility is the third warehouse Nokian Tyres has opened in North America in the past three years. The others are in Montreal and Shorewood, Ill.

In all, Nokian has eight distribution centers in North America and will open its ninth later this year in Dayton, Tenn., adjacent to the tire factory it's building there.

The Dayton factory will begin making tires for commercial sale in 2020. The company will build premium all-season and all-weather products at the facility.
