PHOENIX, Ariz.—China's Mlily is leasing a second property in the U.S. to expand production.
The company has taken a 10-year lease on a 643,798-sq.-ft. site in the Goodyear district of Phoenix, located near the I-10 interstate.
It plans to employ 300 when in full production. Mlily is aiming to take possession of the site in mid-December.
"By manufacturing in Arizona, Mlily can continue to provide high quality products at lower cost to U.S. consumers while expanding its global footprint," said commercial real estate agent Yan Chen of Colliers, San Francisco.
Payson MacWilliams, who also works at Colliers, said the new plant "will augment (Mlily's) existing U.S. presence in South Carolina."
Mlily has been expanding outside China for some time. It has plans in China, Serbia, Spain and Thailand.
The company inaugurated its plant in Winsboro, S.C, in December 2019. Mlily also raised money through a private share sale in April. At the time, it said the money was earmarked for its plant in Winsboro and the third phase of an expansion at its plant in Serbia.
The capital boost originally was planned for 2018, but was delayed as the company awaited regulatory approval. In the original 2018 plan the company aimed to raise $115 million.
