NORTH BARRINGTON, Ill.—Medical device manufacturer Medical Murray Inc. has completed expansions of its two Illinois manufacturing and research and development facilities.
The expansions added a clean room, testing lab and molding space, according to a June 30 news release.
"With this expansion, our team is prepared for new and exciting medical device development projects," Tanner Hargens, vice president of business development, said in the release. "Our engineers now have full access to a new ISO/IEC 17025 certified testing lab for development and research purposes, which allows Medical Murray to be vertically integrated and provides greater cost and time savings to our customers."
At the company's headquarters and R&D facility, a new 5,200-sq.-ft. suite offers a lab for testing devices to ISO and ASTM standards and expanded prototyping workspace.
At its facility in Lake Zurich, the company added a 1,600-sq.-ft. Class 7 clean room, new injection molding machines, and expanded storage and workspace.
"With this new space and associated equipment, we are prepared to support the growth of our existing customers and have the capacity to transfer in additional new products," President Eric Leopold said in the release.
Company officials declined additional comment.
These additions come just over a year after Medical Murray opened a 30,000-sq.-ft. R&D and manufacturing space in Charlotte, N.C., and brings it to a total occupied area of 85,000 square feet, the firm said. All three facilities are FDA registered and ISO 13485:2016 certified for design and manufacturing.
Medical Murray specializes in medical products, including complex catheters, molded components and covered stents. Its products find application in minimally invasive medical devices used in neurovascular, vascular, urological and surgical applications. The company utilizes proprietary insert micromolding technology for thermoplastic, silicone rubber and bioabsorbable materials.
