Warwick, N.Y.—Mechanical Rubber is positioning itself to address product demand on the West Coast, opening a new office in Richmond, Calif.
The global manufacturer of custom rubber and plastics products said it opened the office in California office to support existing aerospace, defense, transit and industrial markets.
"It's something that has been in the works for some time and has finally come to fruition," said Mechanical Rubber CEO Cedric Glasper. "The need to have a location on the West Coast has just grown over time and making the move now was the next logical step in our growth strategy."
Glasper said the company will expand into an industrial space in Richmond within 18 months to meet product need.
Mechanical Rubber is headquartered in Warwick, N.Y., adjacent to its manufacturing facility, where it opened in 1941.
The company specializes in custom products for aerospace, transit, defense, health care and commercial industries. The firm utilizes a variety of thermoset elastomers, thermoplastics and aluminum alloys in its products. Mechanical Rubber's engineering processes include rubber compounding, die cut/converting, extrusion, molding and composite fabrication.
The company has approvals with Airbus, Lockheed, Boeing and Gulfstream, among others, on the aviation side, according to the company's website.
