    TAY NINH, Vietnam — Jinyu Tire Group Co. Ltd. has commissioned production at its truck/bus radial factory in Vietnam, nine months after breaking ground on the project.

    Jinyu broke ground in June 2020 on the Jinyu Tire Group Vietnam venture—the Dongying, China-based company's first plant outside of China—in Vietnam's Tay Ninh Province.

    "The successful implementation of the Jinyu Vietnam Project will optimize the global supply chain of Jinyu Tire Group, lay a solid foundation for the Group's globalization strategy and alleviate the current situation of tight production capacity (in China)," the company said then.

    The Jinyu Vietnam plant complex is made up of 19 buildings, covering 1.4 million square feet and a Phase I annual capacity of 2 million units. Jinyu did not disclose its investment in the factory, which is located at the Phuoc Dong Industrial Park, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City.

    The company said it was able to stay on schedule despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and delays due to Vietnam's rainy season. Jinyu plans to ramp up to mass production in May.

    At full capacity, the plant will have annual production capacity of 7.5 million truck/bus tires. The company also produces tires at plants in Shandong Province, China.

    The company said its promise to customers is "time proves quality," and the project was part of an overall goal of creating a "lean" manufacturing process through the utilization of digital technology and automation.

    Jinyu, which was founded in 1995, said its vision for the future includes:

    • A focus on automation and precision to reduce labor intensity, improve work efficiency and ensure accurate operation of equipment;
    • Online collection and effective control of quality standards throughout the process of manufacturing to guarantee a "stable and reliable" product;
    • Supporting automation to improve production line, logistics and warehousing;
    • Focus on incorporating the company's legacy of "factory management discipline," adding key employees and providing proper training to employees; and
    • "Make a bold breakthrough in equipment digital selection, industrial internet application, material flow and information flow, to realize the whole life cycle of the tire digital, intelligent management."

    The company goes to market with four brand names: Amulet, Blacklion, Eudemon and Jinyu.
