DUBAI, United Arab Emerites—Huntsman, looking to meet the growing demand for polyurethane products throughout the Middle East and Africa, has opened a new systems house and a regional base for its Demilec business in the of the UAE. The purpose-built facility, in the Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone, will serve industries including construction, insulation, appliances, bedding and furniture.
"This is the latest step in the expansion of our worldwide systems house capabilities, which underpin our downstream growth strategy," Tony Hankins, president of Huntsman's polyurethane division, said. "The new systems house at JAFZA brings us closer to our customers."
Steen Hansen, vice president of Europe, Africa, Middle East and India for Huntsman polyurethane, said the UAE is a significant importer of polyurethane for construction projects. The centrally located facility will help to better fill the needs of the region, he said, noting that demand is expected to rise next year when Dubai hosts Expo 2020.
Huntsman said that the new facility will feature blenders, reactors, filling stations, a control room, offices and QC labs. Customers also will be able to take advantage of technical training and product assistance at the site's dedicated spray foam application and training area.
