NEU-ISENBURG, Germany—Hankook Technology Group has opened a new laboratory facility dedicated to design trends of color, material and finish.
Created by Hankook subsidiary Model Solution, the CMF Lab is an in-house database dedicated to research and categorization of current design trends.
"The CMF LAB, in collaboration with British design studio Chris Lefteri Design will be based on four themes: retro, sustainability, feel and the fantastic," Hankook said in a news release.
Acquired by Hankook in May 2018, Model Solution is a Seoul-based precision prototyping, tooling and manufacturing services company. The company provides technology and platform solutions for a wide range of industries, including consumer electronics, robotics, medical and health care devices and automotive services.
In addition to other customers, the CMF Lab is expected to support Hankook in product development and offering new insights for new concepts.
As a first joint project, the Hankook and Model Solution are developing a tire prototype that adapts its shape according to the road conditions, Hankook said.
